CSs announce fresh wave of appointments to state boards and agencies

Cabinet Secretaries across various ministries have made a new wave of appointments to state boards and regulatory bodies, as announced through a gazette notice dated May 16, 2025.
In the transport sector, Transport CS Davis Chirchir established a special Aircraft Accident Investigation Team tasked with reviewing air accident reports involving Kenyan-registered or operated aircraft in South Sudan and Somalia from the past five years.

According to Gazette Notice No. 6257, Capt. Peter Maranga has been appointed Chairperson of the team, with Fredrick Kabunge as Co-chairperson and Eng. Fredrick Aggrey Opot as Vice-chairperson. Other members include Capt. Nduati Herman Njama, Rtd. Lt. Col. Mike Mulwa, Ephantus Kamau, Capt. Valentine Wendoh and James Mwangi.

Trade and Industry CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed over 70 individuals as inspectors under the Standards Act (Gazette Notice No. 6263), empowering them to enforce regulatory compliance across sectors.
In the energy sector, CS Opiyo Wandayi appointed Anne Michura to the Board of the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (Gazette Notice No. 6259) and Martha Nyangwaria to the Board of Directors of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Gazette Notice No. 6258). Both appointments are for a three-year term beginning 16th May, 2025.
Meanwhile, in education, CS Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Eugene Masombo to the Board of Trustees of the President’s Award (Gazette Notice No. 6260) to serve for a period of three years, while in agriculture, CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed Wario Pius Yattani and reappointed George Amos Odhiambo Oballa to the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre Board (Gazette Notices No. 6261 and 6262), both to serve for three years.
In the water sector, CS Eric Muuga named Daniel Shem Omino as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency Board for a period of three years (Gazette Notice No. 6267), revoking the appointment of Odoyo Owidi.
He also appointed Eng. Jackson Kitili Mwenda to the Board of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources in Eastern Africa for a similar three-year term (Gazette Notice No. 6268).
